-Plastic Made in USA
After researching various toys suitable for children around ten years old, I came up with several options. For a child who has no particular experience with such things yet, I think the 3Doodler Start+ Essentials Pen Set might be a better choice than others. Turns out, my son really seems to like it! If you’re looking for something fun to help introduce children to drawing even before they get into art classes, then the 3Doodle Starter Essentials set is worth gifting this holiday season for sure and has a 4.2-star rating on Amazon. The 3Doodler is an easy way to make your own plastic creations. It’s a pen-like tool that lets you create three-dimensional objects by extruding layers of melted plastic through the nozzle tip. The process is simple: The 3Doodler Start plastic extrudes from the nozzle with ease. It will harden in a few seconds, giving you time to shape your doodles to your heart’s content. Clicking the large button once is all it takes to get your 3Doodler going. When you need to stop, one-click is all it takes to stop the flow of plastic. Double click to reverse the filament strand flow direction. Each kit comes with 2 mixed-color packs of 3Doodler Start Eco-Plastic filament to unlock your full creative potential. The 3Doodler Start+ uses a proprietary child-friendly PCL plastic made at their production facility in Ohio.
The best part about these pens is that they are inexpensive. They are not as expensive in comparison to other brands or models, so if you have been thinking about getting one for your kid, the 3Doodler Start Essentials Pen Set would be a great option because it includes everything you need to get started. These pens are made well and are durable enough to last. The 2021 edition of the 3Doodler Start features refined extrusion gears for a smoother 3D Drawing experience. Even though they look small, they are actually pretty big. This makes them easier to use, especially when you have smaller hands. There’s also a manual inside the box, which is very helpful for brainstorming ideas about what to make. This 3d printing pen is perfect for just about any age group and comes with multiple colors of filament. The plastic filament is replaceable and easily removable without needing to unscrew the entire pen. With this feature, there is no worry of damaging your pen.
BUT WAIT THERE’S MORE!
Visit the official 3Doodler website to get additional plastic filaments and free downloadable stencils and templates. “Whether your child is into arts & crafts, science, and math, or building & tinkering, we have projects that will capture their attention & get them creating!” (the3doodler.com)
It works perfectly fine as long as you don’t try using too much pressure on the extruded plastic. Our kids love how it feels to hold and draw with — the weight feels natural. We have only had the 3Doodler for a few days but it’s been used for hours on end daily. When the battery dies, we recharge it with a micro-USB charger and use it until the battery dies again. We are almost out of the filament that was included. My kids are just getting started with the possibilities this little pen has for them, like making toy figures, decorating rocks, or making accessories for other items around the house. My friend has a 10-year old son who is high functioning autistic and has been the one to use this the most. It’s clearly satisfying something inside of him, and I love that it’s in the form of art and engineering. You’re not going to get high-quality prints but that’s not really the point. In addition, this 3d printing pen doesn’t have any parts that will burn your skin. There are little to no burn risks. You could print the plastic straight onto your hand and be fine. That being said, I can let the kids play with it without me watching over them. The 3Doodler Start Essentials Pen Set certainly makes STEM education relevant and fun. It’s a tactile learning toy that boosts kids’ creative confidence. Each kit comes with a micro-USB charger & activity guide plus a ton of creative potential. The 3Doodler is also delivered in a certified & sustainable brown package! I love that the company thinks about its impact on the environment. Overall, it’s a super cool product and I would buy it again!
